At Fort Funston, you can find sand dunes, beach access, and miles and miles of trails to suit all levels of experience and activity, from extremely steep sand stairs to well-paved, wheel-chair accessible paths. Fort Funston is known for windy conditions and the hang-glider platform at the edge of the bluff. If the forecast calls for high wind, go to another local beach. The Fort Funston Doggie Beach is one of the best beaches to take your dog. This is according to numerous people, locals, and one time visitors. This beach allows you to take your dog off-leash (as long as you have them trained to listen to your voice) while you walk around the beach.
